Moodboard Monday Inspiration Series

Nature’s Intentions
There is so much we can learn from Nature. Whether we are taking inspiration for color schemes, taking visual cues for mixing patterns and lines, or including natural products in our homes, Nature can be a great influence. It is there to comfort us, help us grow, and ground us. Those are some of nature’s intentions, and you can use those cues for the vibes in your own home with this moodboard.
Design Details
The moodboard for Nature’s Intentions is kept quite simple to let the beauty of nature shine through. The natural stain on the hardwood floors lets the grain pop better and provides a great contrast for the suggested dark stain on cabinets and furniture. The wall color is an off white so keep your space bright and crisp like a beautiful day outside. As well, the fabrics are kept light and airy. You can do this with light colors and also by using light materials such as burlap, cotton, and gauzy polyesters. Use plants and greenery (real or fake) throughout your home to encourage the sense of nature in your home. Metals are darker, burnished or antiqued, to give the feel of being worn down by the elements.
To get started on using this moodboard in your home, ask yourself what it is that draws you to this look. How does it make you feel? Write those feelings down on a piece of paper so that you don’t lose track of the end-goal vibes of your space; how you want your home to feel when it’s completed. Be intentional about the products you bring into your home. Make sure they are adding to this feeling. And if you get home and discover they aren’t working towards your home goal, then return them! Don’t hang on to decor items that don’t create a happy home.
