Summer is here and I’m all for it. I’ve put together a list of trendy summer decor ideas that are popping up everywhere this year. Maybe a few of these will be great for your home! We can all use some sunshine and cheer right about now.
You’re probably looking for ways to bring some of those summer vibes into your home. Decorating for the summer season usually means bright pops of colour, fun patterns, and cute motifs. Check out my list below and see if any of these summer decor ideas are a fit for you.
Summer Trends
Fruit Fun

Lemons, pineapples, watermelon, you name it! If it’s juicy and tasty, you can likely find your favourite fruit in the form of a beach towel, pool floaty, wallpaper, or shirt. What other fun fruit images have you found? I’d love to hear about them in the comments.
Buzzin’ About

Bumble Bees and hives are also being highlighted this summer! I’m sure it’s partly because of the movement to save the bees. Among them is a campaign to not spray dandelions or mow them over too early to allow bees a chance to collect from them first. Either way, I am finding the diy hives adorable, as well as the bumblebee motifs! Another favourite of mine are the honeycomb or hexagon tiles for backsplashes and showers! I think it’s such a fun way to play with patterns in a small area.
Fresh Candles

Tomato Vine, Campfire, Mowed Grass, and Lilacs are a few scents that come to mind and instantly remind me of summer. Imagine if you had your favourite summer scent captured in a candle to light whenever the day feels a little dreary. I really like these natural soy candles by Field Kit but you could also use essential oils or wax melts or natural room sprays too.
Bright Lights

My husband recently hung patio lights on our deck and they really make the evenings feel magical. There’s somethings special about twinkling accents lights. Add some fairy lights to your home and bring that magical inside! It’s fun to wrap some fairy light wire across a shelf, inside clear vases, or around a headboard.
More Plants

If you have the space and lighting, why not try your hand at a miniature garden? Plants and greenery add life to a room! A small collection of succulents or a fairy garden, heck, even wall art of plants can really add some summer vibes to your room.
Florals

Have you noticed the return of floral motifs? Big and bold floral wallpaper is making a comeback as statement art. Accent pillows are another way to add your favourite floral prints without committing to something more permanent. But nothing beats a fresh bouquet of flowers for a classic summer decor idea.
Welcoming Doorway

An entryway is a great spot to change up from your regular decor style. And wreaths are not only for Christmas. Having a seasonal wreath is not uncommon. I love using wreaths to add colour to a doorway and really make a great first impression.
Classic Blue

The colour of the year is a bright blue. And you can find plenty of blue decorations this summer. It’s a fun way to add a pop of colour for a season even if blue isn’t the colour you usually reach for. You may be pleasantly surprised!
Decorating For Summer
Which of these would you incorporate into your home decor for summer? Will it be a seasonal change or a permanent change? It’s fun to switch things up and do something completely out of your norm. And it’s easier to do if you know it’s temporary, like decorating for summer.

This is a great list, Sara!
I would love to bring hexogon tiles into our master bathroom when we ever renovate it. I also believe in using greenery and plants in your home, and love the protea scatter cushion.
