Moodboard Monday: Sprinkle Joy

Moodboard Monday Inspiration Series

Moodboard Monday: Sprinkle Joy will be sure to make you smile with its combination of neutral and bright colors! www.inspireddecorator.com

Sprinkle Joy

This week’s moodboard Sprinkle Joy brings some attitude. It is not light and airy, but instead moody and intriguing. There is texture, pattern, and depth working in layers for this room. On the top surface are pops of lime green and teal like little sprinkles of joy. But the base layers are neutral for design longevity. But you don’t need to be bland with your neutrals! Mix up textures, prints, and materials to keep it interesting!

Work In Layers

Consider this moodboard a lesson in layers. First, you need a starting off point, your foundation. In order to build a room in layers, you need a solid base to build up from. The foundation for the design of your room should be the most expensive item: which is usually the flooring or furniture. From there you pick out your fabrics and accent colors. The third piece of the puzzle is your choice of paint color. There is an unlimited number of paint colors so you can easily work the paint color around the rest of the materials in a room. Finally, add your accent decor pieces. This is the glam and textures, the interest and intrigue of a room.

By choosing a base material that you love, the design of the room will grow with you over the years. The pops of color may change, and your accent decor as well, but the mix of neutrals will allow you to swap them out seamlessly.

Materials

Paint Color: Benjamin Moore, Metropolitan, AF-690

Flooring: Ezlay EzTile Rock Candy

Carpet: Beaulieu Santiago II Sand Grey #84320

Fabric: Unique Fine Fabrics, Dublin Captivating

Metallic Accents: Matte Chrome

Tip: When trying to decorate a room, ignore the urge to pick your paint color first. Use it instead as the finishing touch to pull all the pieces of your design style together.
