Moodboard Monday: Relaxed & Centered

Moodboard Mondays

Moodboard Monday Inspiration Series

Moodboard Monday: Relaxed & Centered is a soothing blend of neutral materials that creates a calm environment.

Relaxed & Centered

It has been a long day at work. Your feet are sore, your head is pounding, and you can’t wait to get out of traffic. After successfully get the key in the deadbolt you ease the door open and breath a deep sigh of relief. You are home.

This is your sanctuary. You have designed it to be a place of relaxation, peace, and serenity. Not only does it make you feel centered, but it also brightens up your day to walk into any room and feel like you belong. Your home is an extension of you.

Design Details

This design is meant to feel light and calm. There aren’t any really dark tones, but the laminate is the darkest material so as to keep your room grounded. This mood board would work great for a whole-house scheme or an open concept kitchen-living room area. The wall color is a light gray and works wonderfully as a full home color. You may notice its tones will change depending on the light value of the room. I think this gives the paint more depth as it transitions so well from room to room.

The stone is a way to bring some natural materials into the design without making any areas of your home feel heavy. It could be used on the back of a kitchen island, on a fireplace or be the inspiration for art and decor. In a design that is meant to be peaceful and wholesome, it is a good idea to have some natural influences.

The window shades/blinds are venetian-style roller shade. They diffuse the light entering your home but doesn’t completely block it out, while giving you complete control over the amount of privacy you want. The grey stripes will appear softer once it is up in the window.

The cabinetry is all kept a nice and clean white. For a slight mix, you can also add light or natural wood tones. The idea is to keep everything light and harmonized for a soothing atmosphere. That will keep in line with the moodboard relaxed & centered vibes.
