Nature Walk

Happy Monday! I’ve got another fun, bright, and inspirational moodboard for you! This one takes its cue from the beautiful world outside our front door. Nature is a great place to look for color combinations, textures, and spacing. Mother Nature has created the perfect canvas to copy from. This moodboard was inspired by a nature walk in the great outdoors. From tree bark to the colors of the leaves and sky, the possibilities are endless.

If you are wanting a softer look, use the off-white as the main wall color and the green for decor and accent pieces. For a more daring look, use the green as the wall color and the white for decor! This green is inspired by the Dulux Paints pick for 2019 Color of the Year, Night Watch DLX1145-7. By keeping furniture and fabrics light the room will keep from feeling dark and oppressing.

Natural Gathering Place

The outdoors hosts a variety of color combinations that delight our senses. We can use those combinations in our own homes. This combination would be great for large open rooms since there are a lot of color and textures going on. The floor space in a living room can be a great place to showcase an amazing floor since you have so much more open space than in other rooms like a bedroom. This moodboard is well suited for a Bohemian design style. Boho styles really embrace natural materials and influences from nature.

Break It Down

While we are not always able to be in nature, we can be surrounded by reminders of nature. The flooring is a vinyl product but it resembles plant stalks such as grass or bamboo. The wall colors are reoccurring colors in nature and pair well with the flooring. The gold accents serves as a reminder of the sun.

When picking furniture, choose materials that feels good to you. Same with your decor. You can mix textures, both natural and man-made, for more interest. To take the look another step further you could try to use wood venetian blinds or woven-grass blinds on windows in this room. Perhaps you prefer curtains and want cotton or jute drapes.

Another great idea is to add plants to the room. For a Bohemian look add a mix of different plants and containers. Have some heavy potted plants on the floor in baskets, or small plants in macrame hangers attached to the ceiling. Don’t have a green thumb? Use images of plants for artwork instead of the real deal. There are so many options for way to create a nature-inspired room.
