Coral Delights

This Monday’s inspiration board will delight your eyes. It is a playful combination of modern colors and patterns. Yes, you can combine patterns in the same room! It includes the Pantone 2019 Color of the Year, Living Coral. And this moodboard will work in both small and large spaces. I can easily see this in a small powder room, or in a large rumpus room.

Delightful Powder Room

In a small setting such as a powder room, the accessories, such as the fabric are what will really give the room vibrancy. If there is no window in the small bathroom then cut the fabric to fit into picture frames and hang a grouping of them on the largest wall, or a single picture frame over the toilet. The pattern on the floor is very monotone subtle so it won’t be obnoxious in such a tight space. This is often the fear when it comes to using a pattern in a small half bath. I say go for it!

I would leave out the area rug so as to not clutter the space unless it is a necessity. Instead, bring in more gray or coral through the use of hand towels. Gold light fixtures or toilet paper holders will add extra sparkle. Or use this fabulous metallic for the taps to really stand out. I would also recommend keeping the cabinetry and counter light so they don’t weigh down the powder room.

Coral Rumpus Room

In a larger space like a rumpus room, you have more space to play around with textures and patterns. Use pops of coral in the art, the window coverings, and even on the furniture. You can find some beautiful patterns for roller blinds now! The vinyl flooring will be great for easy cleaning while adding a pattern to the room and a bit of visual weight to anchor the space.

A large area rug made from the carpet provides a soft place for kids to play and be used to create zones into a large open room. An example of this would be to use an area rug to create a zone where everyone sits to watch tv, while another area creates a zone for a play or craft area, all in the same open room. Light fixtures, picture frames, table legs are all ways you can add a touch of gold to the rumpus room. By keeping the paint colors soft, you allow for more play in the accessories and furniture. And so you should! It’s a fun, open space that allows for a lot of possibilities.

Using A Warm Color

When you are considering using a warm color, there are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to your room. Warm wall colors appear to bring walls closer together. This is great for large rooms that you want to feel cozier. But not so great for rooms that are already small and cramped. Using this theory is also great for odd shaped rooms, if you want a wall to feel like its closer in, just paint it a warm color! The paint color chosen for the Moodboard Coral Delights is a light neutral so that this moodboard can work in small or large spaces. So if you have a large room you may opt to use the coral on the walls but if your room is small you may opt for it as an accent.
