Moodboard Monday Inspiration Series

Mid-Century Modern
Mid-Century Modern is an iconic style that’s making a comeback. This architectural staple has recently started being used more in home design. Its simple style blends so well with other modern styles. Now there has also been a resurgence of material patterns and colours to support the comeback of Mid-Century design. It’s been modernized through the use of colour and I’m all for it!
The key features of this style are warm wood tones, white or cream walls, brass/gold metallics, and tapered furniture. Ideally, the structure of a room is the defining feature and everything else is supposed to compliment that. Such as this terrazzo-inspired tile which is a nice nod to the industrial too. It’s a subtle pattern that adds to the overall look instead of being distracting. You can bring the mid-century into the 21st century with the use of dark, rich colours too. Use jewel tones as a guideline. These can be used as accent walls, toss pillows, or go for a big impact with a solid coloured sofa. Keep your wood tones fairly natural or lightly stained, and don’t be afraid to mix wood species! Wood is your friend! Embrace the natural materials!
This material board would be great for a family room or office. It’s a powerful moodboard and will make a big impact in any room you decide to use it in!
