Moodboard Monday: Coastal Glam

Moodboard Monday inspiration series: Coastal Glam! A modern material board styled for a soft and inviting space! inspireddecorator.com

Coastal Glam

Last week we explored the idea of coloured furniture in an otherwise low impact room. I’m doing it again. But with a different vibe so you can see how similar traits can transition to different styles. And what a mix of styles this is! Coastal Glam combines the rustic details of a coastal cottage, with soft and glamorous details.

When creating a coastal space, the desired atmospheres that come to my mind are relaxing, spacious, unrushed, soft-spoken, and uplifting. This board speaks that to me and evokes thoughts of curtains swaying in a sea breeze, and sand whispering over this gorgeous plank floor. Lightly coloured walls reflect the light around the room. The serene space invites you to have one more cup of coffee. Can you smell the salty sea air yet?

The use of blue is minimal and echoes the colours of the water just outside your doors. It’s in your wall decor, hand towels and side chairs. Maybe you were feeling inspired and painted your kitchen cabinets blue to connect with your environment. And used with white quartz counters, it’s just enough colour for you.

The rose gold accents are reminiscent of the spectacular sunsets that grace your backyard. You aren’t required to use it everywhere. Just let it dance around the room in three or so specific spots. It would be quite a  stunning effect to have rose gold handles on the blue cabinets. Or adds extra glam to your light fixtures. Perhaps a rose gold candy dish could sit out on your coffee table. It’s the little touches of luxury that adds the glam factor.

Keep your furniture light for the most part, in white fabrics that feel great against your skin. This way your eyes will travel over the heavy furniture and open up the room. Opt for soft cushions and sleek bed sheets. You can add interest to an all-white scheme by changing the textures. On your white furniture, layer pillows that have a couple of different textures and prints.

Can you imagine it too?
